January- December 2008
The Salsa Affair on December 8,2007 was a fun filled evening. We raised close
to $10,000 in donations from the event
The Santa Monica, Malibu
Special Education Foundation donated $5,000 for training and scholarships for
camp. The funds this year have paid for the cost of speakers and snacks for 4
parent information evenings, A TIPS sponsored weekly parent group. And 5 parent
share of cost scholarships for summer camp 2008.
The Assistance League of
Santa Monica who donated two scholar ships for camp in 2007 also donated enough
funding to cover parent share of camp costs for 5 campers for summer 2008. They
have also donated mirrors for the benefit of
Step By Step EDU-Play programs as well as many toys for the children and
families served by Step-by-Step, OT 4 kids, Kidz n motion, and Talk of the Town
Speech therapy.
Kari Thompson OT donated the
gym equipment for the fitness room at
Step By Step so that parents receiving services from any of the agencies and
organizations located at 1814 14th Street could take advantage of wellness
opportunities.
2nd annual Salsa
Affair Fund Raiser was held in November 2008. There was a kids fashion show
featuring many of the children TIPS has served. Lots of folks learned the samba
and other salsa dances. The Silent auction and door prizes helped to raise over
$2,000.
